Iowa's official flag was adopted
in 1921. The flag has a red,
white and blue background, like
the French flag; this symbolizes
the fact that Iowa became a
part of the United States as
part of the Louisiana Purchase.
On the white central portion
of the flag, a bald eagle holds
a flowing ribbon that reads,
"OUR LIBERTIES WE PRIZE,
AND OUR RIGHTS WE WILL MAINTAIN."
Iowa became a state on December
29th state in the USA; it became
a state on December 28, 1846
as the 29th state. The state
capital and largest city is
Des Moines.
Iowa is centrally located in
the heart of North America with
the Missouri River to the west
and the Mississippi to the east.
Iowa is the only state bordered
by two navigable rivers. Iowa
borders Minnesota to the north,
Missouri to the south, Illinois
to the east, Nebraska to the
west, Wisconsin to the northeast
and North Dakota to the northwest.

and grain production.

as one of the best, healthiest,
safest states to live and raise
a family. Iowa is one of the
top states in education and
has high education standards.
It also is known for low costs
of living, affordable housing,
short commutes, and one of the
lowest crime states in the nation.
Iowa has a continental climate
and experiences four distinct
seasons. The weather in Iowa
varies great from season to
season and winters are very
cold winters summers can be
very hot and humid. Temperatures
in Iowa can drop to -10 F or
lower in the winter and can
and rise to over 100 F in the
summer. In spring and fall temperatures
and humidity are very pleasant
but usually experience thunderstorms.
